April 3 Parent Letter

Dear Palominas Families,

I hope this finds you healthy and adjusting to your new schedules. I know this week has been a time of intense planning and adjustment for the Palominas District staff. I appreciate your understanding and all the helpful feedback we have received as we work to respond to the needs of our students, families and staff.

On Monday, March 30, we began our program of remote learning. We are delivering the bulk of the content online, but we are also making pencil and paper materials available to those families with internet-access issues. Our IT Department is working with a local vendor to enhance our wifi signal to reach more families, but there is no way that we can guarantee internet service to all families in the district. For those families with connectivity issues, we will continue to brainstorm and help problem-solve while providing print materials. Most of our teachers are posting work in their individual Google Classrooms. Do not hesitate to directly email your teachers if you have any questions. They are here to help!

Please take a moment to read Superintendent Sherri Rosalik's letter in its entirety.

Mandatory School Closures

Dear Palominas Families,

Governor Ducey and Superintendent Hoffman have ordered all Arizona schools to close from March 16 through March 27. The Palominas District Leadership Team will be meeting tomorrow to formalize plans for continued instruction and nutritional services. Please see the mandatory school closure letter and stay tuned for more information.

Breakfast and Lunch Delivery

Starting on March 30, 2020, the Palominas Elementary School District buses will be delivering breakfast and lunch at bus stops. Please view our food distribution routes to find your child's food drop off time for any of our preschool, elementary, and high school students as they are all eligible to meet the bus. Please be advised that most of the buses will more likely run late due to making sure we are at each of the stops and that students that are there get food. Please pass this along, share it, talk about it, and help us get the word out to our families! Please call with any questions.

Coronavirus Preparedness Update

As we move into spring break, I'd like to update you on our emergency preparedness planning regarding COVID-19. At this time, there are no documented cases of COVID-19 in Cochise County. As a district, we are following all available guidance from Health Department officials, the governor’s office, and the Department of Education to work together to help mitigate the spread of the virus and to prepare our school sites for any potential closures.

Our leadership team has been hard at work developing preliminary plans in the event of mandated school closures. We are looking at how we would continue site operations, student instruction, and nutrition. We have a team developing plans for food distribution to our eligible students. I have also been investigating how a closure would impact our classified staff, our budget, and our accountability at the state and federal level. We invite you to please take a moment to read our coronavirus preparedness letter for more information.
