Preschool Expansion

View more photos about Preschool ExpansionFor several years, families within the Palominas District have been asking us to expand our inclusive preschool, offering it to more students and families. After repurposing Valley View School at the end of last year, we decided to move our current preschool program from Palominas to Valley View and open a second class!

Ms. Greta Knight, who has been with the district for 23 years, will continue teaching our existing preschool class. Mrs. Della Thompson, who taught kindergarten at Valley View last year, will be teaching our new preschool class. Both ladies are excited to work together as we begin a new year!

Starting this year, our preschool program will be all day Monday through Wednesday and Friday. Our occupational therapist will lead physical education and art classes, and the students will have access to their own library!

Last night, we hosted an open house for incoming preschoolers and their parents, and it was a great success! Parents and students got to meet their teachers and tour the classrooms as well as test out the toys and equipment.

Be Kind People Project

On Friday, August 4 the students of the Palominas District were treated to a fun and energetic presentation at both Coronado and Palominas by the Be Kind Crew of the Be Kind People Project. During the presentation, the students learned about the importance of being kind both at school and at home. They talked, sang, rapped, acted, and danced the be kind pledge, which helps the kids to remember to:

  • Be Encouraging
  • Be Supportive
  • Be Positive
  • Be Helpful
  • Be Honest
  • Be Considerate
  • Be Thankful
  • Be Responsible
  • Be Respectful
  • Be a Friend

Every district student and staff attended and took part in the assemblies, as we believe that these ten tenants will be an important focus for everyone in our district. We encourage parents to talk to their kids about the Be Kind People Project and hope that this event can start a dialogue both in and out of the classroom. If you would like to learn more about the Be Kind People Project, please check out their website and find them on Facebook.
